Using a token instead
For machines that cannot open a browser (CI, a server). Get a token first, then register the server with it as a header:
gemini mcp add --transport http brain https://brain.levirge.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your-token>"Troubleshooting
It did not ask me to sign in. Run /mcp auth brain inside gemini.
I edited settings.json by hand and it is ignored. The field for a remote
server is httpUrl, not url. Check ~/.gemini/settings.json under
mcpServers.brain.
"401" or "Unauthorized" with a token. Check the header is exactly
Authorization: Bearer <your-token>, and that the token has not been revoked on
Profile → MCP Tokens.
I connected, but there are no Brain tools. Clients read the tool list once, when they connect. Quit and reopen the app so it reconnects.
